The winning dishes from the first preliminary round of the 2015 Golden Spoon contest
The Mekong Delta region’s preliminary round was attended by talented chefs who presented spectacular menus.
Over June 2 and 3, 2015 the first preliminary round of the third season of the Golden Spoon contest took place in Can Tho. In competition were 69 chefs making up 23 teams from Tien River.
Two teams were awarded first prize by the judges after much deliberation: La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc and Nam Nho Kien Giang.
There were six teams awarded the second prize: Dong Xuyen Hotel and Thanh Loi Wedding restaurant, An Giang; Cuu Long River Restaurant, Cay Buoi restaurant system, Nhi restaurant and Hoa Su restaurant, Can Tho.
Below are some dishes that won the prizes
* Grand prize- La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc, Kien Giang
Cobia baked with cinnamon and served with hawthorn berry sauce - a Phu Quoc island specialty

Pigeon and chicken stewed with bitter bolete - a Phu Quoc island specialty

Caramelized downy rose myrtle– Phu Quoc’s specialty

Three flavor raw spring rolls made of herring fish
*. Grand prize - Nam Nho restaurant, Kien Giang province

Grilled beef salad and chicken rolls with sea urchin, wrapped with ginger leaves.

Vietnamese noodle stir-fried with seafood

Grilled pork served with sticky rice and soup made with bitter bolete

Sweet soup with bird’s nest and melon with sugar candy and bean
* Second prize - Dong Xuyen Hotel

The three members of Dong Xuyen Hotel team convinced the judges of the 2015 Golden Spoon contest with their four dishes: snail fried with wine; Basa fish fillet steamed with green tea and vegetables; chicken hotpot stewed with green chili and noodles made of seaweed and herbs; sweet soup cooked with jaggery.
